All About Eve

Happy lazy Sunday!  Tony mentioned that we had gone to see a photography exhibit in London a couple of weeks ago.  Eve Arnolds was an amazing photographer who passed away earlier this year at the age of 99 and this exhibit was a retrospective of her work, partially selected by her best friend.  Wandering through the exhibit we were struck by the diveristy of her work and her life.  She photographed all social strata and throughout the world.Best known for her behind the scene pictures of Marilyn Monroe featuring the star at her most vulnerable, Eve also photographed many other film stars and actors.  Here is a link to a site that has some of her most famous pictures

As Eve once stated, “It is the photographer, not the camera, that is the instrument.”

In Eve’s case, her work ethic and commitment to documenting what she saw have left behind a legacy of remarkable photographs, some funny and some eye opening, about the world as it happened around her.  I was going to try and point out a couple of favorites but I would be hard pressed to select a few.  Do a search instead, on Eve Arnold Images on Google and browse her photographs.
